So as i completely forgot to blog this whole week, right before this class i have criminal justice. In criminal justice we have been talking about jury nullification. I do not pay very much attention to the news or anything like that so when i hear stories in this class i am amazed. Jury Nullification is a process where juries vote people not guilty even though they highly suspect or know for a fact they are guilty. I was amazed to even hear this. I do not hear much about court cases except for the very big ones, but I did not know this was a reoccurring event. We watched a video on how a lot of races vote people of their own race not guilty just to keep their race out of jail. The movie showed how an African American man highly believes that other blacks should vote for black criminals to be not guilty because there are too many blacks being sent or prison. Another black man highly disagreed with this because that is not just. It is like telling Irish people to keep Irish people out of court or whites to vote for whites to be not guilty just because of their color. I think this is ridiculous for any race. If people are guilty they should go to jail, that is how our legal system is supposed to work and I wasn't aware of all this illegal action being taken place. I find criminal justive very interesting because I always learn new things in there. Even though it is a very difficult class, you learn good information that keeps you interested. We have watched numerous videos like the jury nullification one, or mental illnesses in prisons, or campaigns against numerous of things. The class never fails to surprise me and I learn something new every day.
